06/04/2026  Dubious Halal Status

National

The Halal Food Control Division, Syariah Affairs Department received a complaint regarding the sale of the Natural Chicken Stock Concentrate food product produced by The Natural Stock Company Australia in one of the supermarkets in the country of which the halal status is doubtful. Following the complaint, an inspection was carried out and it was found that the product contained ingredients sourced from chicken meat whose source and halal status could not be ascertained since there is no halal recognition from a recognised halal certification body.

To safeguard the welfare of the Muslim community in the country, owners of supermarkets, retail stores and other business premises that sell the food products are advised to immediately isolate the products and place them in a space that is not exposed to the public, especially the Muslim community. Owners, managers, entrepreneurs, traders, importers, suppliers and distributors are also reminded to always be vigilant and more sensitive in the management of non-halal products and goods at all stages of handling including during importation, storage in warehouses or storage areas, transportation, internal handling and sales at business premises.

For any complaints or sharing of information regarding the open sale of non-halal products at business premises, contact the hotline or the Halal Food Control Division office in each district.
